Testimonials
Western Pilates is a great resource in the Gunnison Valley. With the help and expertise of Kenny Marks, I have been able to reach advanced fitness goals. As an aerial dancer, the importance of core strength is vital to the longevity of my aerial dance duet- the Fabulous Flying Femmes. Injury prevention is an important focus of our private lessons with Kenny. He is able to help me and my partner focus on at risk areas- such as shoulders. I recommend Western Pilates not just for extreme athletes, but for anyone who wants to feel better each day, with the results that come from increased core strength. Joan Grant

I do quite a few sports and activities, but none of them give me the core strength or feeling of being challenged with every workout that Pilates does. The gain in upper body and core strength from working out on the Pilates apparatus has directly affected my balance while on my bike and sense of stability paddling on the river. In addition, I get a tremendous energy boost for the whole day after a Pilates session. I am amazed at how many ways Kenny can challenge my balance and keep me moving towards the next level of skill. Never boring, always fun. Gwen Petitt

I incorporated Western Pilates into my fitness routine 4 years ago with the goal of strengthening my lower back. It has done that and much more. The change in my flexibility and my core strength has been amazing and has helped considerably with my skiing, running and tennis. I have more balance and stability than I ever had before. Kenny Marks and his qualified instructors are encouraging, thoughtful and highly knowledgeable. Twice a week, I treat myself physically and mentally to the most enjoyable form of exercise I have done in years. I plan on weaving Pilates into my personal workout for many years. Diane Markowitz

I began taking Pilates instruction approximately 1 1/2 years ago with Kenny and Juliette due to a back problem resulting in injury. Within a relatively short time I saw significant improvement and became virtually pain free. As well, with a strong core has come noticeable improvement in all athletic endeavors. Thanks Kenny and Juliette! You've made me a real believer in the benefits of Pilates. Kim McGuire

Four years ago an Orthopedic surgeon recommended that I straighten my scoliosis with spinal fusion surgery. After getting 3 other surgeon's opinions, I chose to instead try Pilates to strengthen my core to alleviate the aches and pains. Kenny has worked with me for the past four years and has even attended back and scoliosis specific Pilates workshops. Pilates has worked for me and my specific back issues. Kenny is open to my input and listens well, respecting that I move differently. He and his staff are very knowledgeable and make it fun, too. Pilates has helped me to learn more about my body, and this knowledge translates to all aspects of my life. Sally Vulich

Western Pilates is truly one of the best exercise regimes I have ever experienced. A couple of years ago I injured my neck and lower back. After my physician and physical therapist strongly recommended Pilates I signed up for a few private lessons with Kenny. I knew nothing about Pilates and definitely had many misconceptions that I quickly overcame. First off, Pilates is much more than stretching, it’s a total body workout. It’s amazing once you have learned how to exercise proper form just how difficult the easiest exercises can become. Secondly, Pilates is not just for the classroom. I have learned how to implement Kenny’s teachings into everyday life, from hiking around with a heavy pack on my shoulders to sitting on an airplane for hours on end. Pilates is the real deal!
